As to the 3rd,man he came up Wardley Street and crossed the

tram line and I lost sight of him. I saw 2 firemen rumming

abreast with the man in European clothing. Of the 7 or 8 men

when they get to the tram line some went to the West some to

the East and straight up Wardley Street. I subsequently saw a

small man in custody. Can't recognise the small man. There were

too many men there at the time. I know Mr.Brutton. It was he

who asked me to go and see him. I said I had seen people run-

ning down and my master asked me to go. My master is Ng Poa.

The man who dropped the revolver was much taller and stouter

than the prisoner.

Cross-examined.

of the 4 men all were at one time on the same pavement and

the man in European clothing. When the 2 men turned by the

Bank garden the 3rd.man was about 30 or 40 feet behind and the

European was about 30 or 40 feet behind the 3rd,man. When I

looked the 2 men were about the red mark on plan. I was very lear when I saw them. They were all running hurriedly. The

European was carrying a stick. I think he had a hat.

Plan put to witness and he puts the 2 men at the red mark.

Shown a blank plan and he puts the position of the 2 men then the 3rd. man and the European by the statue.

The 3 men had almost reached Des Voeux Road when I saw them

and were running very fast and darted round the corner along Des Voeux Road. I could see the 2 men better as they were much nearer to me than the 3rd.man and the European. I thought there had been a fight with so many people running. Being a

I made no note of this at the time, I went to Brutton's office twice. I went about a week ago on first occasion. I saw Mr. Brutton on both occasions. First occasion about a week ago.
